Dear Green Medicine Clients and Friends,

Happy Spring Equinox. Today marks the first day of spring starting at 5:24 pm est.

We’ve already seen some robins. Crocus and forsythia are beginning to bloom, and the bulbs are sprouting out of the ground. We cut some branches of our forsythia bush that was starting to sprout and put them in a vase. The beautiful yellow flowers are a joy to everyone who comes in.  Meanwhile, we are preparing to plant seeds in our mini-indoor greenhouse to start growing organic veggies and herbs for our garden.

So many plants are used for medicinal purposes, and the forsythia is one many people in our culture are unfamiliar with. Forsythia has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. It cleanses the blood and lymph system from toxins, and is used for skin rashes, boils, and abscesses. It also helps support kidney function, by reducing protein in the urine and water retention in the body.  We use forsythia in the following herbal formulas: Abscess Relief, Bacterial/Viral Relief, Blood & Lymph Detox, Fungal/Viral Relief, Kidney Function Support, Lyme Damp Heat Relief, Lung Heat Relief, Sinus Support, Stye Relief, and our Throat Gargle. It’s so amazing how one plant can help so many different areas of the body.

Spring time is traditionally the time to detox the liver and gallbladder. We now stock a variety of heavy metal chelators, including a homeopathic spray, zeolite, EDTA, and green foods. Consider cleansing heavy metals from your body. It’s something we all need to do. We offer hair mineral analysis tests that can detect heavy metal toxicity in the body. Please give us a call for more information.

As the days continue to get longer and warmer, we hope you’ll make time to get outside, and enjoy nature. If you haven’t already, please follow our Green Medicine Facebook for great holistic health articles.
